Operation Corporate, laid out as a campaign.

These are the public facts of the war, used as the board. The game does not invent a private service history. It asks the player to move a Task Force eight thousand miles and then fight inland in winter.

  1. 2 April 1982

    The islands are taken

    Opening

    Argentine forces land on East Falkland. Stanley falls the same day. The board is set eight thousand miles from Britain.

  2. 5 April 1982

    The Task Force sails

    Departure

    Carriers, escorts, and the first troop ships leave Portsmouth and Plymouth. Operation Corporate is the name on the order.

  3. 25 April 1982

    South Georgia

    First recovery

    British forces retake Grytviken. The campaign is no longer only a sailing problem.

  4. 21 May 1982

    San Carlos Water

    Landing

    3 Commando Brigade goes ashore on the west of East Falkland. The anchorage becomes Bomb Alley.

  5. 28–29 May 1982

    Goose Green

    First settlement battle

    2 Para fights through Darwin and Goose Green. The game’s first inland fight is a night approach and a long, hard morning.

  6. 11–14 June 1982

    The mountains above Stanley

    Endgame

    Two Sisters, Mount Longdon, Mount Harriet, Wireless Ridge, Tumbledown. The last nights before the capital.

  7. 14 June 1982

    Argentine forces in Stanley surrender. Seventy-four days after the landing, the flag over Government House changes again.
